Dhaka, Nov. 17 -- Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus on Monday instructed the Deputy Commissioners& (DCs) to carry out their responsibilities with full honesty, impartiality and integrity in the upcoming election and referendum, stressing that the election must be both festive and peaceful.

"This election (scheduled for February next year) is not a traditional one; it is an election to save the country," he said while addressing DCs from all 64 districts, including 50 newly appointed DCs, at the Chief Adviser's Office. He emphasised that the upcoming election is not merely about forming a government for the next five years; it is even more significant because it will include a referendum.
