Dhaka, July 7 -- Bangladesh's daily Covid-19 cases reached a new high on Tuesday after the country registered 11,525 infections in the past 24 hours.

According to daily statistics released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 11,525 new cases were registered, taking the country's total to 9,66,406 while the virus-linked death toll reached 15,392, including 163 new fatalities -- the second highest single-day toll since the pandemic began last year.

In the last 24 hours until 8:00 (Tuesday), 36,631 samples were tested in labs cross the country. The rate of detection was 31.46 per cent, while the overall rate of detection of infected cases in Bangladesh as of Tuesday stands at 14.22 per cent.
