Dhaka, Nov. 8 -- The Indian Army has operationalised a new military base in North Dinajpur district of West Bengal and is in the process of raising another military station in Dhubri, Assam, to bolster its presence along the border with Bangladesh, reports The Deccan Chronicle.
According to the Hyderabad-based English daily, the move is being undertaken "with an eye on the current political turbulence in Bangladesh," suggesting that India is recalibrating its eastern frontier strategy amid unfolding developments across the border.
On Thursday, Eastern Army Commander Lieutenant General R.C. Tiwari visited the newly operational base at Chopra in North Dinajpur, situated close to the Bangladesh frontier.
