Dhaka, April 11 -- In a coordinated drive, Joint forces evicted 70 illegal shops clearing footpaths in the capital's Airport Roundabout area on Wednesday.

The drive led, by the Special Judicial Magistrate Md Asaduzzaman of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), included personnel from Uttara Division Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the Army, reports BSS.

"The drive has been conducted to reduce traffic congestion on the highway, prevent pickpockets and robberies . . . 70 different types of illegal structures were evicted in the operation," Uttara Division Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) Md Mohidul Islam told BSS on Thursday.
