India, Jan. 13 -- Actress Mehazabien Chowdhury and her brother Alishan Chowdhury have been released on bail in a case filed against them for allegedly extorting Tk 2.7 million from a business partner by promising to make them partners in the business.

Dhaka Executive Magistrate Md Adnan Zulfikar issued the order to release Mehazabien and Alishan after a hearing on Monday morning.

Actress Mehazabien and her brother Alishan arrived at the court around 10:00am yesterday. They entered the courtroom around 11:00am.

Meanwhile, during the hearing of the case filed on charges of threats and intimidation, the actress told the court that she has never seen or known the plaintiff in the case. There is no question of threatening him.
