Dhaka, June 27 -- Social media personality Ashraful Alom, widely known as Hero Alom, was hospitalised on Friday after reportedly consuming an excessive number of sleeping pills while visiting a friend in Dhunot upazila of Bogura.

According to hospital sources, Alom was initially taken to Dhunot Upazila Health Complex around noon in an unconscious state. He was later transferred to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for further treatment. Doctors confirmed that he is now out of danger.

Alom had been staying overnight at the home of his friend, playwright Jahid Hasan Sagor, in Bhandarbari village near the Jamuna River. Concern arose around 11am when Jahid failed to wake him and discovered sleeping pills beside his pillow.
