Dhaka, Feb. 7 -- The High Court (HC) has canceled the appointment of 6,531 candidates who had passed the final results in the third phase for the position of Assistant Teachers in government primary schools across the Dhaka and Chattogram divisions. The court has directed that new appointments be made strictly based on merit.

The verdict was delivered on Thursday (February 6) by the High Court bench of Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Shikdar Mahmudur Razi.

Earlier, on November 19, the High Court had suspended the appointment process for six months, citing concerns over the selection method. The court ruled that the appointments were made based on a quota system, which required further legal review.
