Dhaka, May 4 -- Hasnat Abdullah, the Chief Organiser (Southern Region) of the National Citizens' Party (NCP), was attacked while travelling through Gazipur this evening (4 May).

The incident took place around 7 PM at the Chandna intersection on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, Gazipur Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner (Crime) Taherul Haque Chauhan confirmed.

During the assault, Abdullah's vehicle was vandalised, and he sustained injuries to his arm.

Following the attack, his vehicle continued towards Dhaka. As it approached the Board Bazar area near the Islamic University of Technology (IUT), students from the university came forward to assist and ensure his safety.
