Dhaka, Dec. 1 -- Md Tanvir Mahmud, Managing Director (MD) of Hallmark Group and a convict in the Hallmark loan scam cases, passed away on Saturday night while receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). He was 55.

AIG (Development) of the Prisons Department, Md Jannat-ul Farhad, confirmed that Tanvir Mahmud died at around 10:30pm.

Tanvir had been serving prison sentences in several cases lodged with Ramna Police Station and Kafrul Police Station.

According to prison authorities, he had long been suffering from various critical health issues, including chronic kidney disease (CKD), hypertension, diabetes, benign prostatic enlargement (BEP), bronchial asthma, chronic pancreatitis, vomiting, and urinary retention.
