Dhaka, March 17 -- Price of brinjal has fallen in Ishwardi in just a few days. Eggplant which was 60 taka per kg just few days ago is now being sold at 10 to 20 taka in the retail market. On Friday (March 15) afternoon, brinjal was sold at Barichra market of the upazila for 5 taka wholesale and 10 taka retail per kg. On Saturday (March 16), brinjal was sold at Ishwardi market at Tk 10-15 per kg. But on the first day of Ramadan, brinjal was sold at the rate of 50-60 kg in Ishwardi market. Like other times, this time also, the price of brinjal increased during Ramadan, but the price fell drastically within two days, but the common consumers expressed surprise. The sellers say that the price of brinjal has decreased due to high importation.
