Dhaka, Aug. 27 -- The government has given in-principle approval to a proposal aimed at shortening the procurement process for printing and distributing free textbooks in 2026.The decision was taken considering it an emergency state requirement.
The approval came during the 27th meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Economic Affairs, held on Tuesday, with Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed presiding virtually.
According to Cabinet Division officials, the proposal was placed by the Secondary and Higher Education Division and endorsed under Section 83(1)(Ka) of the Public Procurement Rules 2008.The decision will facilitate timely printing, binding, and free distribution of textbooks across the country in the next academic year.
