Dhaka, July 30 -- In a move to strengthen the quality and pace of education at government primary schools, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has initiated a process to fill thousands of vacant head-teacher positions across the country.

The ministry has already submitted a requisition to the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) Secretariat, which is expected to soon issue a recruitment circular to appoint new head-teachers.

Ministry sources reveal that there are 65,502 approved head-teacher posts against 65,569 government primary schools nationwide.

However, only 31,396 head-teachers are currently serving, leaving 34,106 posts vacant.Of these vacant positions, 2,647 posts are eligible for direct recruitment.
