Dhaka, Dec. 25 -- The government has reduced the existing import duty on the import of dates by 40 percent to ensure adequate supply and keep prices affordable for consumers during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
According to a press release issued by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Wednesday, the customs duty on date imports has been lowered from 25 percent to 15 percent through a notification issued on December 23, 2025. The facility will remain in force until March 31, 2026.The decision has been taken considering the religious sentiments of the people and to make dates, an essential item for Iftar during Ramadan, accessible to all sections of society.
