Dhaka, Nov. 3 -- The government today reaffirmed that the upcoming parliamentary polls would be held in February next.

The assurance came following an emergency meeting of the Council of Advisers held at the Chief Adviser's Office (CAO) here with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus in the chair.

"At the meeting, the government reaffirmed its commitment to holding the next parliamentary elections in the first half of February in 2026," Law Adviser Professor Dr Asif Nazrul told a press briefing at the Karabi Hall in the CAO after the meeting.
