Dhaka, Sept. 8 -- The Interim Government has directed law enforcement agencies to take strict action against recent processions organised by leaders and activists of the Awami League whose activities are banned.

Speaking at a briefing at the Bangladesh Foreign Service Academy, Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam on Sunday said the directive followed a high-level meeting at the State Guest House Jamuna, attended by 10 advisers, including the Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus.

The meeting discussed the recent surge in marches or processions by Awami League members across Dhaka and other parts of the country. Authorities have already arrested several participants, with operations ongoing.
