Dhaka, Dec. 3 -- Officials and employees of various government and autonomous institutions have called for inclusion in the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) pension system, citing long-term deprivation compared to other public-sector staff.

They argue that the national pay scale 2015 ensured salary and allowance parity, but left pension and post-retirement benefits unequal for officers and employees working in high-risk and essential services.

According to their statement, the existing pay scale provides an average annual inflation adjustment of around 8 percent, while from 2005 to 2014 the general pensionable salary rose by only 8 percent in total, says a PDB release.
