Dhaka, Sept. 4 -- Activists of Gono Odhikar Parishad staged a demonstration at Dhaka's Paltan intersection on Wednesday afternoon, halting traffic as they pressed a three-point demand.
The protesters demanded swift trial of those involved in attacks on party leaders, including its president Nurul Haque Nur, the resignation of the home affairs adviser, and a ban on the politics of the Jatiyo Party and other allies of the former ruling coalition.
Vehicular movement in and around the busy intersection came to a standstill during the protest, police said. Motijheel Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police Hossain Mohammad Farabi told the media that law enforcers had been deployed to maintain order.
