Dhaka, Feb. 25 -- A gold trader was shot and robbed of 200 bhori of gold and Tk 1 lakh in the Banasree area of Dhaka on Sunday night. The victim, Anwar Hossain, 55, sustained injuries in the attack and was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.

Local people said that armed robbers on three motorcycles blocked Hossain's path around 10:30 pm on Road No. 7 in Block D of Banasree. They attempted to steal the gold, but when Hossain refused to comply, one of the attackers shot him. The robbers then took the gold and cash before fleeing the scene.
