Dhaka, July 9 -- The government has issued the gazette of the Legal Aid Services (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025, amending the Legal Aid Services Act of 2000 to strengthen access to justice for underprivileged and marginalized citizens across the country.
According to the gazette, the ordinance redefines legal aid as the provision of legal advice and assistance to individuals who are financially insolvent, helpless, or otherwise unable to seek justice due to socio-economic barriers.
The expanded definition covers all legal matters pending, filed, or yet to be filed in court thus broadening the scope of support.
