Dhaka, Nov. 21 -- The old gas wells in Sylhet seem to be getting a new lease of life. As part of the workover of abandoned and inactive wells across the country, new gas has been found in well number 1 of the Kailashtila gas field.
If everything goes well, the gas here will start being added to the national grid within a few days. There is a possibility of adding at least 5 million cubic feet of gas every day.
Sylhet Gas Field Limited (SGFL) Deputy General Manager (Operations) Eng. Mohammad Farrukh Ahmed confirmed this information on Thursday (November 20) afternoon.
He said that it will be possible to supply about five million cubic feet (Mcf) of gas to the national grid from the well.
