Dhaka, June 1 -- Four members of a family, including a husband and wife, lost their lives in a devastating landslide early Sunday morning in Sylhet's Golapganj upazila, following days of relentless heavy rainfall, according to local authorities.
The victims have been identified as Riaz Uddin (50), his wife Rahima Begum (40), and their two children, Samia Khatun (15) and Abbas Uddin (13). They were residents of the Bakhtiarghat area in Lakhanaband union under the upazila.
According to locals, the family had been living at the base of a hillock for years. Around 2:45 AM, a large portion of the rain-soaked hill collapsed onto their home, burying the entire family under a mass of mud and debris.
