Dhaka, Sept. 24 -- A Dhaka court has granted a five-day remand for former Food Minister Advocate Kamrul Islam in connection with the killing of jute trader Md Monir during the July mass uprising in Chankharpul, Dhaka. The remand was issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sadikur Rahman after a hearing on Wednesday, 24 September.

During the proceedings, the investigating officer, Sub-Inspector Mainul Islam Khan Pulok of Shahbagh Police Station, had requested a 10-day remand for Kamrul Islam, who was present in court.
