Dhaka, June 1 -- Due to continuous rain and hill torrents in India over the past few days, the water level in the rivers of Sylhet is rising. Along with this, there is intermittent rain in Sylhet. However, the water level in any river has not crossed the danger level yet.
Water Development Board (WDB) Sylhet Executive Engineer Deepak Ranjan Das said that the water level in all the rivers including the two main rivers of the district, Surma and Kushiyara, is rising. The water level in the Sari-Goain and Dhalai rivers is touching the danger level. Cherrapunji, Meghalaya, India, received 410 mm of rain in 24 hours from Friday to Saturday.
