Dhaka, Feb. 23 -- Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter on Saturday said that due to the water pollution and filling up of water bodies, fish production is at risk.

"Unfortunately, our rivers have become polluted and the use of pesticides in agriculture has increased while the water bodies are being filled up. If this continues, fish populations will not survive," she said, reports UNB.

The adviser came up with the remark while speaking at the "Fisheries Entrepreneur Summit-2025", held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center in the capital. The summit aimed to promote innovation, sustainable development and the advancement of young entrepreneurs in Bangladesh's fisheries sector.
