Dhaka, June 23 -- The first batch of Bangladeshi nationals willing to return from war-ridden Iran is expected to arrive home next week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Sunday.

The repatriation process is being carried out in coordination with neighboring countries and other relevant agencies to ensure the safe return of citizens.

"In view of the ongoing war situation in Iran, the Bangladesh government has started the necessary procedures to bring back all Bangladeshi nationals residing there who wish to return," said Shah Asif Rahman, director general of the ministry's Public Diplomacy Wing, in an official statement.
