Dhaka, Nov. 27 -- BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to determine the actual cause of the fire and said that anyone found responsible must be brought to justice, while also urging the government to provide compensation to the families affected by the devastating blaze at Dhaka's Korail slum.

He said, "Thousands of people reside in the Karail settlement. They have been rendered helpless by the blaze, and it is a serious setback for the impoverished community."
