Dhaka, Sept. 9 -- Former secretary Bhuiyan Shafiqul Islam has been detained in connection with a case alleging an anti-government conspiracy.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Deputy Commissioner (Media) Muhammad Talebur Rahman said that the Detective Branch (DB) arrested Shafiqul Islam along with seven other leaders and activists from the banned Awami League and its affiliated organizations.
According to DB Additional Commissioner Md. Shafiqul Islam, Shafiqul Islam was arrested under the Anti-Terrorism Act in a case lodged with Shahbagh Police Station, after information about secret links with Abdul Latif Siddiqui, Abu Alam Shahid Khan, and others came to light.
