Dhaka, May 8 -- Former president Abdul Hamid has left Bangladesh, according to officials from the police Special Branch (SB).
Golam Rasul, chief of the SB, confirmed the departure, stating, "He went abroad early in the morning."
A source within the SB reported that Hamid departed Dhaka for Bangkok on a Thai Airways flight at 3:05 a.m. on Thursday. He reportedly arrived at the airport around 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday and completed all necessary travel formalities prior to departure.
Hamid has recently faced legal scrutiny, being named alongside former prime minister Sheikh Hasina in a case filed at Kishoreganj Sadar Police Station. The case relates to fatalities that occurred during the July Uprising last year.
