Dhaka, April 18 -- The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka sent former Chhatradal President Abdul Kader Bhuiyan Jewel to the Keraniganj Central Jail after he surrendered in the court on Wednesday.

Jewel was sentenced to 17 years' imprisonment in five separate cases filled with Paltan, Shahjahanpur and Dhanmondi Police Stations of the capital from August of last year to January of this year, his lawyer Advocate Yeltutmis Sawdagar Aney told the media on Wednesday.

Jewel is currently BNP's Schechasebak affairs Secretary and warrant was issued against him.

Before, the Twelfth Parliament election, he was made accused in more than two hundred cases including the five.
