Dhaka, Feb. 23 -- The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at East West University (EWU) organized a felicitation ceremony to honour its alumnus, Rifat Nabi, co-founder of the Bengali typing software 'Avro,' for receiving the prestigious Ekushey Padak, a national award of Bangladesh. The event took place on 20 February 2025 at the university's Manzur Elahi Auditorium.

The ceremony was graced by Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Advisor of EWU and former Governor of Bangladesh Bank as the Chief Guest. The event was presided over by Professor Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor of EWU. On the occasion, Rifat Nabi was honoured with a laptop computer as a token of appreciation.
