Dhaka, May 6 -- The European Union (EU) has reaffirmed that the timing of Bangladesh's national election is solely a matter for the country itself, while underscoring the importance of completing key reforms in advance.

EU Ambassador to Bangladesh, Michael Miller, assured that the European Union is not exerting any pressure regarding the electoral process.

Speaking at an event hosted by the Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) at the National Press Club's VIP Lounge on Monday, the ambassador addressed a range of national and international issues.

He expressed hope that all political parties, alongside the interim government, would cooperate in advancing necessary reforms.
