Dhaka, July 6 -- BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman on Saturday said the struggle must continue until justice and the rule of law are established in Bangladesh.

In a statement on the occasion of the holy Ashura, Tarique Rahman claimed that the last 16 years under the "fallen fascist Awami government" have been marked by sham elections, rigging votes, enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, widespread violence, and rampant corruption, including money laundering abroad.

"BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia was unjustly imprisoned based on fabricated cases and deprived of proper medical treatment, putting her life at risk," Tarique said.
