Dhaka, Oct. 13 -- Bangladesh high commissioner to Maldives Dr Md Nazmul Islam particularly emphasised the long-standing demand for the establishment of a Bangladeshi bank branch in the Maldives, noting that such initiative would greatly benefit expatriate workers by providing them with secure, efficient, and affordable banking services.

He made the remark when paid a visit to Bangladesh Bank and held an extensive meeting with a delegation led by Deputy Governor Md. Zakir Hossain Chowdhury here, said a press release.

During the meeting, the High Commissioner discussed key issues related to financial connectivity and remittance facilitation for the large Bangladeshi expatriate community living in the Maldives.
