Dhaka, Nov. 22 -- The Dhaka district administration has activated an emergency control room to coordinate updates on casualties and structural damage after the 5.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Bangladesh on Friday morning.

The disaster management wing of the deputy commissioner's office confirmed the development through a press release signed by Deputy Commissioner Md Rezaul Karim.

The quake, which hit at 10:38am, has so far claimed at least six lives and injured several others. Numerous buildings across Dhaka and other districts have also sustained damage.
