Dhaka, Sept. 29 -- Bangla Academy has postponed its earlier decision to hold the Ekushey Book Fair before the national election, following a proposal from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

In a press release on Sunday, the institution announced the matter, adding that a new date will later be fixed in consultation with publishers and other stakeholders.

Professor Mohammad Azam, Director General of Bangla Academy, told the media: "It is not possible to hold the book fair before the election. We will finalize and announce a new date."

On September 21, at a law-and-order-related meeting held at the Ministry of Home Affairs, it was decided that "the Amar Ekushey Book Fair must be organized after the upcoming national election."
