Dhaka, June 24 -- After a 40-day shutdown, Nagar Bhaban, the central office of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), reopened on Tuesday morning, allowing regular administrative operations to resume. Officials from various departments returned to work, marking the first day of restored civic activity since the lockdown began in mid-May.

However, the offices of DSCC Administrator Shahajan Mia and several senior engineers remain padlocked, as protesters continue to demand the swearing-in of BNP leader Ishraque Hossain as mayor.
