Dhaka, Sept. 24 -- Mobile courts in Dhaka and Narayanganj disconnected illegal gas connections, saving gas worth more than Tk 27 lakh a month.

The drives were conducted under the supervision of executive magistrates of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division with support from Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited, said a PID release today.In Kamrangirchar of the capital, eight illegal factories and two residential connections were severed, while Tk 60,000 was realized in fines for illegal gas use.

During the drive, 140 feet of GI pipe, 50 feet of hose pipe, and a compressor/booster set were seized. The operation is expected to save gas worth around Tk 10.27 lakh per month. In total, 11 service lines were disconnected...
