Dhaka, July 30 -- Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has been advised to undergo bypass surgery after an angiogram revealed serious blockages in three major heart vessels, doctors confirmed.

Shafiqur collapsed twice on July 19 during the party's national rally at Suhrawardy Udyan and was immediately hospitalized in Dhaka. Though initially discharged after treatment, a follow-up angiogram on July 29 revealed the extent of his cardiac condition.
