Dhaka, March 7 -- The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has warned that legal action will be taken against any banned organisations, including Hizb-ut-Tahrir, if they attempt to hold meetings, rallies, or engage in promotional activities.

The DMP issued the warning in a press release, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Talebur Rahman on Thursday.

On October 22, 2009, the government banned Hizb-ut-Tahrir considering that it is a threat to public security.

According to the Anti-Terrorism Act-2009, all activities including meetings, rallies, processions, distribution of posters and leaflets and publicity through other means by any banned organisation are punishable offences, it said.
