Dhaka, July 30 -- Bangladesh has officially welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Thailand and Cambodia after over four days of deadly cross-border clashes that left at least 36 people dead and displaced hundreds along both sides of the contested frontier.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, Bangladesh expressed appreciation for the unconditional ceasefire reached by the two Southeast Asian neighbors.
The statement commended the role of Malaysia, current chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), for its effective mediation at the highest political level.
Bangladesh also acknowledged the contributions of other friendly nations that supported the truce process.
