Dhaka, Sept. 22 -- Abdul Malek, driver of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), who has amassed crores of taka through illegal means, has been remanded for 14 days.

A Dhaka court on Monday placed driver Malek on a 14-day remand in two separate cases filed under the Arms and the Special Powers Acts. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahidul Islam passed the order after police produced him in court with a 14-day remand prayer.

Earlier on Monday, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) filed two cases against Malek with Turag Police Station under the Arms and the Special Powers Acts.

He was sued for possessing illegal firearms, counterfeit notes and amassing wealth through extortion.
