Dhaka, Sept. 19 -- The dengue outbreak in Bangladesh is intensifying as six more people lost their lives and 647 others were admitted to hospitals nationwide in the 24 hours until Thursday morning.

With the fresh casualties, the official death toll from the mosquito-borne disease has climbed to 167 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the latest victims, two were from Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), two from Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), one from Barishal division, and one from Chattogram division.

During this time, 647 new dengue patients required hospitalisation, pushing the cumulative number of cases to 38,527 in 2025.
