Dhaka, May 6 -- The election tribunal in Barishal has rejected a petition filed by Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim, Senior Vice Amir of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, seeking to be declared the elected mayor of Barishal.
On Monday (May 5) at 12:30 PM, Judge Md. Hasibul Hasan of the Barishal Election Tribunal and Senior Assistant Judge of Barishal Sadar delivered the order.
Faizul Karim's lawyer, Sheikh Abdullah Nasir, stated that the court dismissed the petition citing multiple reasons, including the delay in filing it, which rendered it inadmissible at this stage. However, he mentioned that they plan to appeal to a higher court.
