Dhaka, July 15 -- The High Court has issued a rule asking the government to explain why Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser to the interim government, should not be officially recognised as the "National Reformer of the New Bangladesh."

In the same order, the court also questioned why those killed during the recent July-August civic uprising - including Abu Sayed, Mir Mugdho, and Wasim - have yet to be declared national heroes.

The rule further asked why a verified and comprehensive list of individuals martyred in the movement should not be formally compiled and published in the government gazette.
