Dhaka, June 22 -- Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Adviser Sharmin S Murshid on Saturday said collective efforts from everyone, including family, society, media, industry and the state are needed to eliminate child labour.

"Today's children are future of the nation," she told a shadow parliament debate competition on 'Debate for Democracy' to protect child labour organized by Laobour and Employment Ministry at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) here.

Sharmin said the United Nations had declared the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1959, which is divided into four parts. Currently, the law of Bangladesh has recognized children up to the age of 18, she added.
