Dhaka, Nov. 22 -- A cocktail explosion and arson attack took place at the Mymensingh residence of Ummu Uswatun Rafiah, the newly elected member of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU).

Rafiah's brother Rad filed a case on Thursday evening at the police station under the Explosives Substances Act over the incident.

Earlier, around 3am on Wednesday night, the blast occurred in front of the house's gate. Family members inside the home noticed the flash and sound of the explosion and quickly rushed outside to extinguish the fire.

According to Rafiah's family, due to her active role at Dhaka University and in the anti-discrimination movement, Awami League-backed terrorists had long been threatening her and her family. During the...
