Dhaka, April 23 -- A moderate heatwave continues to grip Chuadanga, pushing temperatures skyward and making life difficult for residents battling scorching heat and sticky conditions.

At 3 PM on Wednesday, the mercury in Chuadanga hit 39.5degC, according to Jaminur Rahman, chief of the local Meteorological Office. He added that the day's highest temperatures were recorded in Jashore and Pabna's Ishurdi, both reaching a sweltering 39.6degC.

Daily wage workers are bearing the brunt of the oppressive weather, many forced to endure the blistering conditions to earn a living.
