Dhaka, July 10 -- Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the tragic collapse of the Gambhira bridge in Gujarat, India.

In a message of condolence sent to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, Prof Yunus said, "I am deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of lives caused by the collapse of the Gambhira bridge in the State of Gujarat."

On behalf of the interim government and the people of Bangladesh, as well as in his personal capacity, the Chief Adviser conveyed heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families and the people of India.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with those who lost their loved ones. I wish the injured a swift and full recovery," he added.
