Dhaka, Sept. 7 -- Police have arrested former Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shamsuddoha in a cheque fraud case on Sunday, September 7.

He was detained at his resort, Wonderland Green Park, in Nawabganj, Dhaka.

Nawabganj Police Station's Officer-in-Charge (OC), Mominul Islam, confirmed that Shamsuddoha was produced before the court after his arrest.

Earlier, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) had filed a charge sheet against Shamsuddoha and his wife, Ferdousi Sultana, in a case alleging illegal wealth accumulation.

According to the charge sheet, the couple is accused of concealing information and illegally acquiring assets worth Tk 66.48 crore, ACC sources said.
