Dhaka, July 31 -- Under the Green and Clean initiative, canal recovery and cleaning work has started in Fatulla area of Narayanganj to address waterlogging that has persisted for nearly two decades. The work began on Tuesday with cleaning of a canal in the Kaiyum area of Fatulla, led by the Water Development Board.
According to district administration sources, Narayanganj city has about 92 kilometers of canals. Among them, approximately 17 kilometers have been completely blocked due to illegal encroachments and other reasons, stopping water flow.
To restore water flow, the Water Development Board has started recovering nearly 11 kilometers of canal at 56 different spots across 9 canals.
